How interested are ski manufacturers in producing skis in all price ranges that are suited for women? The answer for years was: “Well, golly, we’ve always made skis for the lighter male that are great for women, too.”

However, there are now, finally, skis specifically designed for women - especially in the higher price ranges - whose abilities range from intermediate, to racer. Compared to unisex skis these are only slightly different in shape, but they’re softer both longitudinally and tor - sionally. However, unisex models are still the basic offering for the beginner and low intermediate skier in the lower price ranges.

New hourglass skis are basically unisex.

The annual buyers’-guide issues of major ski magazines report on the best women’s skis as selected by their own female testers.
